Opinion Polls on Ashanti Region By Ben Ephson

This region is considered as the "political world bank" of the ruling New Patriotic party (NPP). The gap between the NPP and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2004 presidential elections was a little over 50%. However, as per the July 2008 opinion polls, the gap between the two parties had dwindled to about 41%. The Convention People's Party (CPP) seems to have gained from the slight decrease in the NPP's support, from the 2004 figure of 0.48% to 6.4% per the opinion polls of July 2008.
